January 2023 Meeting Notes

So because I suspect many do not read the entire email, I am going to begin with the announcements.

#1 :   Stacy Sims has offered us the chance to switch locations for our ½ day workshop with her so we are going to be holding this event at her newly renovated mindfulness location in Camp Washington.  It is not hard to find- parking is on the street but I suspect not an issue on a Sunday morning.  We are happy to meet up and carpool if that works best for you- so if anyone is hesitant to drive down there, let us know and we can enlist drivers.

DATE:  SUNDAY FEBRUARY 19TH 10AM – 2PM

LOCATION:  The Well (on the building front). 2867 Colerain Ave.

P.S.  there is a wonderful coffeehouse just down the street from her building- we might just have to pay it a visit! Mom & “Em.   ****Don’t forget to RSVP is you haven’t already and would like to attend this event!

#2:  Our next meeting is Tuesday, February 7th at 7pm- normal location.  Our topic is “Triggers & Signs.”  We all know there are certain things that bring on strong emotions--- songs, scents, dates, etc.  We can share ones we are aware of and also those that surprise us and how we deal with them.  “Signs” – well, some people, and certainly not everyone, feels they get signs from their loved ones after they have passed.  There are universal signs like seeing cardinals or butterflies- but there are ones unique to us.  Feel welcome to share- or not and of course, feel welcome to bring other questions, concerns, things you would like to share and we will make sure we have time to address those, as well.

So- 16 of us got together for dinner the other night, at Slatts in Blue Ash.  It wasn’t too, too noisy and although we weren’t in a private room, it was a slightly less crowded section of the restaurant and we had a wonderful server.   It always amazes me the varied conversations that take place at our dinners- from the obvious, talking about our losses and our loved ones to talk about sports, the weather, funny things that happened at work and more.  We have really become a family and I feel so honored to have you all on my “friend” list!   There is just something so comforting in our social events- knowing that tears won’t be questioned, laughter is welcome but also ok if it just doesn’t fit the mood of the evening.  As with our meetings, there are no “you should” or “you shouldn’ts” that happen when we are together so we can relax and just be who we happen to be at the moment.   Feel welcome to suggest your favorite places to go and we will see if they can accommodate us.

BTW---Amazon has announced that they will soon be ending the “smile” program.  Not sure why but that avenue of donation will soon be gone.  You can still sign up for Kroger Rewards for our chapter if you haven’t already.  It is a simple and painless way to donate to our chapter.

Hope to see you all soon.     Karen
